Economic Development Executive Director

LEADERSHIP

The Executive Director will provide the Authority Board with leadership in community development. Working with the Long Range Plans of the City Of Juneau establish alternative initiatives that will further the goals and objectives of the City’s Plan. Present these to the Board with the pro’s and con’s of carrying these initiatives to fruition. Bring those initiatives approved by the Board into being.

 

SCOPE OF ACTIVITIES – GENERAL

  1. Performs duties of Executive Director as described in the Authority bylaws.
  2. Provides and distributes agendas & minutes of Board meetings.
  3. Attends Board meetings and Council, Commission and Committees meetings as necessary to carry out the activities of the board.
  4. Attends meetings of State and County organizations involved in Economic Development. Maintain relationships with important State and County officials and committees that impact City efforts in Economic Development.
  5. Works with the Juneau Chamber of Commerce to coordinate efforts to promote business activity in Juneau.
  6. Performs planning, grantswriting and housing activities as requested by the City and approved by the CDA.

 

SCOPE OF ACTIVITES – SPECIFIC

1.                    Market property in the Juneau Industrial Park.  Seek land for a new or expanded industrial park.

2.                    Maintain an active retention effort with existing industrial firms. Maintain communication with the firms in Juneau, including visits to the firms.

3.                    Manage the City Revolving Loan Fund, including maintaining audit files as required by the State.  Coordinate with the Dodge County Fund.

4.                    Manage affairs of Industrial Park Covenants Committee.

5.                    Promote retail development and occupancy of existing retail space, as well as maintaining communication with existing retail firms.

6.                    Work with City Committees to maintain and develop necessary planning documents as approved by the CDA.

7.                    Develop and implement housing activities as requested by the City and approved by the CDA.

8.                    Maintain membership and chair appropriate committees as requested by the Chamber.  Currently chair of  Tourism Committee” and “Business Retention Committee”.

9.                    Develop and maintain appropriate brochures, directories, and informational materials for the promotion of the City. Current list includes the following:

3.        City Of Juneau Economic Development Profile.

4.        Juneau Tourism Brochure

5.        Community Information Guide

6.        Juneau FarmAuto Tours

7.        Calendar of Events, Directory of Business and Directory of Goods and Services are provided by the Chamber and distributed by this office.

       10.      Grantswriting as necessary for CDA programs and projects or as requested by the City and            

    approved by the CDA.

       11.      Perform research as necessary to ensure smooth functioning of the CDA, as well as projects

    and programs proposed or implemented by the Executive Director.

       12.      Maintain records as appropriate for continued successful operation of the CDA, including

                  developing and maintaining databases as necessary.

       13.      Develop and maintain the CDA website.

       14.      Maintain Positive Public Relations with the following:
