Juneau Emergency Government Director Dave Beal reported Tuesday that grants from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, in response to last May's heavy rains, had arrived.

Beal presented a check for $10,380 to Juneau Utility President Dan Wegener as compensation for extra man and equipment hours demanded by stress on the city's wastewater-treatment system.

Beal also presented a $5,315 FEMA check to mayor Ross Tillema, to reimburse the city for water damage suffered in May on Jewel and West streets.
