Helpful Tips for staying safe.  Provided by Juneau Emergency Management

Develop a plan with your family to determine a meeting point. If severe weather approaches, determine where in the basement you are going to go. Make sure this area is clean and free of debris.

Have an emergency plan in place and practice it.

Have supplies gathered ahead of time including the following:

• Blankets
• Water
• Dried fruit and other foods
• A two-three day supply of food and water
• Batteries
• Radio
• Weather alert radio
• Cell phone
• Flashlights
• Extra clothing
• Medicines
• Pet supplies/food
• Personal hygiene items
• Phone numbers of relatives and doctors

Have reading material available for yourself and craft and toy items for your children.

Check and replace your supplies on a regular basis.

Practice your escape routes with family members.

Remember when severe weather approaches, turn on your TV or Radio for weather

updates and seek shelter!
