The chief of police shall be appointed by the mayor and confirmed by the common council, and shall hold office during good behavior, subject to suspension, or removal, by the mayor and common council for cause as provided by Section 62.13(3), Wis. Stats.

Whenever the word “board” is used in said sections, the words “mayor” and “common council” shall be substituted. (Prior code § 2-3-2)
