Chapter 15.08 MOBILE HOMES
15.08.010 Mobile home regulations.
A. "Mobile home" means that which is, or was as originally
constructed, designed to be transported by any motor vehicle upon a highway and
designed, equipped and used primarily for sleeping, eating and living or office
quarters, or is intended to be so used; and includes any additions, attachments,
annexes, foundations and appurtenances. "Mobile home" does not include campers
or motor homes which were not originally intended as permanent residences.
"Mobile home," as used in the Juneau Municipal Code, does not include a
"manufactured home" as defined in 42 USC 5401 to 5426, which, when placed on the
site:
1. Is installed in accordance with the manufacturer's
instructions;
2. Has a factory original central core of the structure which
is at least twenty-two (22) feet long by twenty-two (22) feet wide.
3. Has a roof with no less than a 3:12 pitch;
4. Is properly connected to utilities.
B. No person shall park any camper, motor home or mobile home
on any street, alley or highway or public place. Campers or motor homes or
mobile homes whose occupants are guests of local citizens may be parked on city
streets for up to forty-eight (48) hours.
C. The parking of unoccupied campers or motor homes in an
accessory private garage building, or in a rear yard, is permitted provided no
living quarters shall be maintained or any business practiced in any trailer
while such trailer is so parked and stored.
D. No person shall occupy any camper or motor home as a
residence in the city of Juneau.
E. Nothing in this chapter shall prohibit the temporary
keeping of a mobile home in the city of Juneau when authorized by a permit
issued under this chapter, for use by a contractor as a temporary office while
working on projects in or near the city of Juneau.
F. No mobile home, camper or motor homes shall be altered or
remodeled in any manner so as to become a permanent fixture in the city. (Prior
