A flurry of activity along E. Center St., including concrete

pavement installation on October 18 th near city hall.

E. Center Street Project:

All of the sanitary/water/storm facilities have been completed. Crews from Ptaschinski Construction have completed the concrete pavement installation from N. Main St. to N. Mill St. and are currently excavating for road base, installing granular base material, concrete curb/gutter and driveway approaches. Crews from Henshue Construction (Madison), working for Dodge County, have completed the installation of underground conduits on the western half of the project for fiber optic cables. The underlying poor soil conditions on the westerly three quarters of the project have been addressed by extending the excavation below normal road subgrade and filling with large stone to provide a stable base for constructing the road surface. The updated schedule calls for the following approximate dates:

  • Curb/gutter, driveway aprons, sidewalk repair thru mid-November
  • Asphalt pavement and landscaping thru mid-November
  • Street lighting by the Juneau Electric Utility thru the end of November

Outdated curb stop valves were uncovered on a majority of the

of the existing services and have been replaced. In the past,

these valves were allowed to have a bleeder hole to release air,

however this design was determined to be defective in that it

could also allow contaminants to enter the water system.
